Kids Birthday Cakes for the 1st to the 21st Birthday
Kids birthday cakes, whether for baby's first birthday or your grown up baby's 21st birthday, come in all shapes and sizes. As a browse through birthday cake pictures at Google Images for kids birthday cake ideas shows, childrens birthday cakes often depict a favorite theme of the guest of honor.
When you are considering ideas for a kids birthday cake, the best place to start is with the child's interests. For example, 1st birthday cakes are often decorated with or sculpted in the form of baby blocks, teddy bears, puppies, yellow duckies and such. Baby birthday cakes for toddlers often also include these themes, as well as ones featuring favorite things in their ever widening world, like birds, frogs, flowers and blue skies with puffy white clouds.
A train birthday cake is a popular childrens birthday cake among the pre-school through kindergarten aged children because this age group includes many fans of Thomas the Tank Engine (and just about every other train that blows steam and goes clickety clack!).
Other popular kids birthday cakes with young children include Sesame Street characters, cute animals (popular at any age actually!), and ones that include messages with puns, like a cake decorated with Big Bird that reads "Happy Bird Day!"

Speaking of the castle birthday cake, sculpted confectionary castles are popular kids birthday cakes for children of all ages (and children at heart). Many girls birthday cakes depict the princess theme and are made in the fashion of a storybook princess' castle.
Castle cakes make perfect theme birthday cakes for avid role-playing gamers or Renassiance fans, making them popular choices for teenage and 21st birthday cakes.
Castle cakes also are popular with the pre-teen group. Kids birthday cakes for pre-teens can be more challenging than the other age groups because you have to be careful about not embarrassing with a cake that is too babyish and yet you want to give them something fun. Video games, sports and movies are popular pre-teen themes for kids birthday cakes. And as always, kids birthday cakes with favorite animal themes are often sure bets. And again, search Google images for pictures of birthday cakes for ideas.
Whether you plan to order a birthday cake or make your own, remember to allow enough time because while many kids birthday cakes can be as simple as using a character novelty pan and an icing bag fitted with a star tip to fill in the picture, many kids birthday cakes require a fair amount of planning time and technique.
